The Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) is one of the largest research institutions in Europe covering almost all fields of science. The Institut des sciences de l’ingénierie et des systemes (INSIS) of the CNRS develops and coordinates research in the fields of information and engineering science and technology. Its scientific fields cover sciences and technologies of automation, electronic systems, photonics and signals, mechanics, energy and processes, communications and robotics, micro-and nano-technologies, etc.
The Montpellier Laboratory of Informatics, Robotics, and Micro-electronics, the Interactive Digital Humans group, and the CNRS-AIST Joint Robotics Laboratory (JRL), UMI3218/CRT, located in the AIST, Tsukuba, Japan, will be the main CNRS laboratories involved in the project with the participation of the Gepetto team of the Laboratory of Analysis and Architecture of Systems (LAAS).
CNRS has long experience in coordinating and participating in EC scale projects (all tools). In this project, CNRS' relevant expertise will contribute to cognitive planning and task-based perception, control and optimization using the task-function space, haptics, integration and building complex demonstrators using humanoid platforms.
In RoboHow, CNRS will be involved in architecture integration and robotic benchmarking, software guidelines and implementation policies taking the lead of WP7. CNRS also contributes to human haptic interaction monitoring (WP2) and perception (WP4); imitation and learning of haptic interaction and joint actions (WP5); robot control, representation and personalization using the task functions approach (WP3, WP6). CNRS has already conducted successfully implementations of similar scale benchmarks in EU projects (e.g. ROBOT@CWE) and, with AIST, international projects (e.g. NEDO project at the AICHI expo, AIST open days and press, etc.).
